Food was pretty tasty. I had spicy garlic wings and a large side of fries (and the total was $28 which did feel a bit high). The portion sizes were large. The mild-level wings were still pretty spicy but good. They were still a bit crispy on the skin but with plenty of garlic and just enough sauce. The portion of fries was gigantic. Fries with the potato skins still in them. Just enough crispy to chewy ratio. Well played. Would come back if I was in the mood for good wings and a ton of fries.

Local bar - love the metal sign and album cover decor. Food was cheap and good. We had calzones, wings and bruschetta. Kids menu pizza, fries and drink was $4.

My friend and I went here on Saturday around lunch time for the first time and had a phenomenal experience. The atmosphere was laid back and interesting with lots of cool things to look at. The memorabilia on the walls was very rich with vintage album covers, old national and local newspaper articles, and pictures of the restaurant history and the family behind it. It's a spacious place with a bar and lots of dine in options and a private party room. The staff was incredibly friendly and personable especially Zach, the bartender and waiter. Everything we had was amazing and the menu was huge with lots of options even for me, a vegetarian. I had the Carnegie stromboli and my friend had the hot garlic wings, Al's fries and we split the pretzel rods with beer cheese which was incredible. We are thrilled with our experience here and will definitely be back! Al's definitely gets it right! 11/10!

As we were headed through Altoona during dinner time, we decided to find a place to stop and eat. We made a great choice with Al’s Tavern. The wood panel walls and framed vintage posters give it a retro vibe. The food was really good. We split a Baked Ham and Cheese sub and a large order of fried. I didn’t love all of the lettuce and dressing on the sandwich but it was good enough that I would order it again. We appreciated that all of the wait staff shared responsibility for taking care of us, making sure our drinks were filled and we were happy. We are planning to stop again next time we are in the area.

We arrived on a 7pm, sat night. It took the food a straight hour since ordering to arrive and the medium size fries (almost $12!) were cold. The burgers were good but the buffalo chicken salad was mediocre. The waitress was sweet and the place is nice
